Why does the soil around my property also need to be treated?
There are more than 300 termite species found in Australia but only about 30 could be considered to be pests of timber in service.  Of these, the subterranean termites are the most significant, with about 12 species being serious pests. Subterranean termites are the main species that cause economic damage to Australian homes. A colony of subterranean termites may be as deep as 20 feet below the soil surface.

I'm building a new house, or extending my current house. What should I do to keep termites out of my new home?
There are many options available for minimizing the risk of termite entry into your new home or renovation. It will depend largely on the construction of your property and we will recommend the best options for your specific circumstance. The methods that we recommend may include physical barriers, chemical barriers and combinations to ensure that you have the best protection available.

How quickly can damage occur?
Under conditions favorable to termites, a termite colony of 60,000 workers can consume a one-foot length of two by four in as little as four months.  Under less ideal conditions, it can take as long as eight years for termites to cause noticeable damage.

Termite eradication in an existing structure requires an integrated approach, including destruction of termites within the timber structures of your home or building, measures to locate and destroy the termite nest, establishment of a chemical and/or physical barrier, and regular inspections to detect any ongoing or new termite activity.
